12 Best Hotels in Roma Norte, Mexico City (2026): Live Rates Compared

Searching for hotels in Roma Norte, Mexico City turns up a problem the results pages do not admit to: almost every property is in the same handful of streets, so the usual "best location" framing has nothing to grip. Roma Norte is roughly twenty blocks bounded by Avenida Chapultepec, Avenida Insurgentes, Avenida Cuauhtémoc and Coahuila. The twelve hotels compared below are all inside that box, and the furthest two are 1.37 kilometres apart in straight-line distance.

What does vary, and varies a lot, is what you are actually booking. Roma Norte's supply splits into three groups that happen to share a postcode: conventional mid-range hotels with front desks and lifts, serviced apartments marketed under hotel names, and a small tier of restored-mansion design houses charging four to ten times the neighbourhood's entry price.

Who Should Stay in Roma Norte?

Roma Norte suits a certain trip and not others. It is residential, low-rise and dense with restaurants and cafés, and it is not where the monuments are.

• You want to eat and walk: the Álvaro Obregón corridor, Plaza Luis Cabrera and Plaza Río de Janeiro are the reason most people choose this neighbourhood.
• It is not your first visit: the Zócalo, the cathedral and Bellas Artes are a metro ride away, not a walk. For a first trip built around the sights, the Centro Histórico is the more practical base.
• You are arriving late: book one of the properties that lists a 24-hour front desk, not one of the apartment-style listings.
• You want a recognisable chain: there is essentially one, the Four Points by Sheraton on Álvaro Obregón.

Three of these picks deliberately contradict the guest score. The cheapest row is decided purely on rate, the late-arrival row purely on reception hours, and the chain row purely on the loyalty programme. In each case a better-reviewed hotel is somewhere else on this page, which is the point of naming the criterion rather than ranking everything by one number.

Roma Norte's accommodation is not all the same kind of thing, and booking sites present it as though it is. Of the twelve compared above, our reservation system classifies nine as hotels, two as apartments and one as an aparthotel. That classification changes what happens when you turn up.

TONALA By Mr W and ULIV Roma Norte list no 24-hour front desk in their own facility lists. Both score well, 9.1 and 9.0 respectively, and both are good at what they do, but a 1am arrival at either is something you arrange in advance rather than something you assume. Casa Oliva is the useful exception: classified as apartments, but with a 24-hour front desk listed, which is why it reads as the most hotel-like of the apartment-style options here.

What the classification tends to predict

• Apartments and aparthotels: kitchens, laundry, more space per dollar, and staff who work office hours. ULIV lists in-unit kitchens; the conventional hotels here do not.
• Conventional hotels: a staffed desk at any hour, lifts, and usually a restaurant or bar on site. Stanza, Hotel Milan, Hotel Luca, Casa Izel and the Four Points all list a restaurant.
• Breakfast: listed by Marbella, Stanza, Four Points and Hotel Luca among this twelve, and not by the others. Worth checking on your specific rate, since it often depends on which room type you book.

The classifications and every amenity named above come from the accommodation data our reservation system supplies, not from experience, so treat them as what the listing claims rather than what we have verified in person. Facility lists also go out of date. If a 24-hour desk, a kitchen or breakfast is the thing your trip depends on, confirm it with the hotel when you book.

Roma Norte's most photographed hotels are not in the grid above, and the reason is worth stating plainly rather than leaving as an omission. There is a tier of restored-mansion design hotels here that charges several times the neighbourhood's normal rate and releases inventory unevenly.

Two things stand out. The first is that the prices move violently: the Brick Hotel quoted between $718 and $1,384 a night across our test windows for the same three-night, two-adult stay. The second is that the perfect scores come from small samples. Nima's 10 out of 10 rests on 152 reviews and Casa Izeba's on 198, against Stanza Hotel's 8.6 from 2,490. A flawless score on 150 stays is a weaker signal than a good score on 2,500, and the gap here is large enough to matter.

The Brick Hotel is the name most people mean when they ask about a boutique stay in Roma. It is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property in a restored 1906 mansion on Calle Orizaba, and its 8.6 is the lowest score of these five despite being the best known and, on our sample dates, roughly the same price as Nima. That is not a criticism of the hotel so much as a caution against assuming reputation and guest score move together.

These five are not in the comparison grid above, and we have left them out deliberately: on the five date windows we tested, none of them priced on more than four, and two priced on three or fewer. A live comparison is only useful when the rates it shows are reliably there. If one of these is the hotel you want, check it directly, and try dates a week either side before concluding it is full.

• Do not pay for a better address here. Every hotel on this page is within a kilometre of Plaza Río de Janeiro in straight-line terms. Choose on price, property type and reception hours instead.
• Check the classification before a late arrival. TONALA By Mr W and ULIV Roma Norte are apartments and aparthotels and list no 24-hour front desk. If your flight lands at 11pm, that is the single most important line on the listing.
• Try dates either side if nothing comes back. Roma Norte inventory is released unevenly. Across five test windows, Hotel Embassy priced twice and La Valise twice, while Stanza, Hotel Milan and Hotel Marbella priced every time.
• Weigh the review count, not just the score. A 10 out of 10 on 152 reviews and an 8.6 on 2,490 are not the same kind of evidence, and Roma Norte is full of the former.
• Read the star rating as a supplier classification, not a grade. On the classifications our reservation system carries, the three-star Four Points scores 8.9 and the five-star Brick Hotel scores 8.6.
• Budget roughly 20 percent on top. The rates quoted here are room-only; local taxes and fees are added at checkout.
• Expect street noise on Álvaro Obregón. Three of these hotels sit directly on the restaurant corridor, which is the reason to stay there and the reason to ask for a room at the back.
• If you are here for the monuments, reconsider the neighbourhood. Roma Norte is residential and the Centro Histórico sights are a metro ride away, not a walk.
